Magnitude-6.1 quake rocks parts of Luzon

(UPDATE) A magnitude-6.1 earthquake rocked parts of Luzon Friday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its report, the Phivolcs said the earthquake occurred at 2:24 p.m. Its epicenter was traced to 73 kilometers south of Mamburao town of Occidental Mindoro province, in the southwestern part of Luzon.
The quake was felt at Intensity IV in Mamburao and Batangas City; Intensity III in Makati City, Pasay City, Manila City, Tagaytay City, and Dasmariñas City; and Intensity II in San Jose town in Occidental Mindoro, Puerto Galera, Malay in Aklan, and Guinayangan in Quezon.
The Phivolcs said it is expecting damage and aftershocks from the quake. As of posting time, there have been no reported significant damage or casualties from the tremor.
An earthquake with magnitude 6 to 7 is considered strong and accompanied by local damage near the epicenter, according to the Phivolcs.
An Intensity IV earthquake is "moderately strong" and is felt generally by people indoors and by some people outdoors. Intensity III is "weak" and is felt by many people indoors, especially in upper floors of buildings.
