New Havaianas bags pay homage to funky flip-flops

The simplest things can become the next big must-haves.

Famed for jazzing up the humble tsinelas and making them over as “stylish flip-flops," Havaianas has reinvented rubber once again with its new line of fashionable-yet-functional bags.

Slipper sense

Like the slippers, Havaianas bags come in candy colors and feature the brand’s trademark Greek patterns and rice shapes. The bags, of course, also use rubber for their shoulder straps, base, handles, and locks. It’s as if the popular slippers have been transformed into bags. They’re geared for on-the-go individuals who need something sturdy yet stylish.

“Havaianas has always espoused the concept that style should be personal and fashion should allow one to live their vibrant lives without any obstacles," said Anne Gonzalez, managing director for Terry S.A., Inc., the exclusive distributor of Havaianas in the Philippines.

His and hers

Havaianas bags come in five styles: Mega, Tote, Sack, Side, and Zip.

Women will love the Mega—a roomy bag that has a vertical variant in solid colors and a horizontal variant with flower prints. On closer inspection, you’ll see that the graphic designs are actually flower-shaped mosaics of tiny flip-flop prints.

The Tote, on the other hand, comes in a solid color with a printed drawstring bag inside. A rubber shoulder strap inserted through the length of the bag and various internal pockets ensure that it’s a trusty carry all for women who want to be prepared at all times.

Meanwhile, the unisex Sack has interchangeable shoulder straps that allow users to show off some colors.

The Side is a trendy take on the messenger bag—with its rubber base and rubber band keeping the bag flap in place. It’s roomy and hardy enough to double as a laptop bag.

An innovative bag model, the Zip has wide-open sides and numerous internal pockets that are ideal for carrying items such as skateboards, yoga mats, and jackets. - Jayme Emerald Gatbonton, GMANews.TV
