Mexican challenger Alejandro Hernandez vowed to make the most out of his second shot at the world title by dethroning young WBO super flyweight champion Marvin Sonsona of the Philippines this Saturday in Ontario, Canada (Sunday in Manila).

Hernandez (22-7-1, 11 KOs), who previously vied for the IBF flyweight crown against Omar Andres Narvaez of Argentina in 2008 but yielded a 12-round unanimous decision, said he won’t let the crown slip away this time.

“This is what we dream of when we get into boxing. These chances are never guaranteed, and you must make the most of them when they come around," Hernandez said in a report posted on PhilBoxing.Com.

“I’ve been blessed with a second chance at a world title, and I don’t plan on wasting it," he added.

Regarded as the next Manny Pacquiao, the 19-year-old Sonsona is making his first defense of the 115-lb division belt that he won via a knockdown-spiced UD disposal of erstwhile champ Jose Lopez of Puerto Rico last September in the same venue.

The pride of General Santos City said he's prepared to deal with whatever Hernandez brings into their fight, further inspired by the tremendous support he receives from the Filipino community in Ontario.

“When I first fought here in September, I was treated so well, and welcomed so warmly that I wanted to deliver a great performance to my new fans in Ontario. Now that I’m back, I remember that feeling, and am willing to go through hell once again for my fans and my sport," Sonsona said.

Trainer Nonito Donaire, Sr. said his youthful ward is “110 percent" ready and expressed confidence Hernandez will fall within six rounds.

But having carefully studied Sonsona’s last fight against Lopez, the Mexican challenger claimed he knows how to deal with the Filipino fighter’s power and style and predicted his own victory via a 12-round decision. – GMANews.TV
